City Impressions
Impressions
These snippets are completely biased and perhaps unfair. Take them with a grain of salt and keep in mind people, places, and things do change.
Paris
I love Paris! I can't believe anyone would not appreciate its beauty, history, and unquestionable elegance. Its life essence is strong and the French are found of drink, food, parties, and the romantic. I can think of few spots in Paris that aren't interesting even the very seedy Gare du Nord. I would not want to live in Paris (or any metropolitan area where more than 300,000 people congest) but I know I will always want to experience it and its golden bridges and statues.
Queenstown New Zealand
Tucked way back on the South Island is the dynamic town of Queenstown—home to adventures and beautiful scenery. Jet boats, paragliding, hang gliding, safaris, helicopter site seeing, skiing, and much much more can all be found in this small tourist town that experiences heavy traffic in all seasons. It is well worth a visit if you plan to lay done some significant cash—most of the adventure packages start at $60 NZ plus with many of them in the $180 NZ range. Queenstown has great scenery surrounded by mountains (Remarkables, Coronol Peak etc).
Brussels
Shiny towers of international commerce and diplomacy surrounded by decay, sleaze, and dirt.
London UK
A dark city stained black by the historical use of coal. Spent a day there trying to enjoy the experience; came away feeling it was more work than pleasure.
Rome
Rome is a fantastic city what with its Roman ruins, fountains, shops, and restaurants. On top of all that you have the Vatican City which is a must see even for non-Catholics. While not as 'pretty' as Paris, Rome has a definite charm which will leave a lasting memory.
