Affordable Europe

Camping in Europe

Europe is immense and rich in history, language, culture, architecture, and attractions. It is a smorgasbord for any traveller and considering the density of countries, it certainly gives you a lot for your dollar.

Speaking of money, travelling in Western and Central Europe doesn't have to be expensive. Do what most Europeans do—stay at campsites or RV parks. Europeans have developed an extensive network of campsites, caravan (RV) parks, and hostels. Camping in Europe is the BEST way to meet Europeans.

In North America camping is regarded as a get-back-to-nature holiday. RVing is considered a  holiday for the retired and/or well-heeled. Consequently, most North Americans will not even consider a camping/caravanning trip to Europe.

Camping in Europe is not rustic. The vast majority of European cities will have campsites located within their city boundaries—some very close to their downtown areas (Paris, London, Rome, and Amsterdam to name a few).

European campsites have stores, lounges, hot showers, manicured grass, Internet, game rooms, pools, and every other convenience you can imagine. The truth is European campsites are all about convenience, civilized comforts, and affordability—Camping Tiber in Rome will cost a family of 4 (2 children under 12) only 42.50 Euros per night (2006 pricing). Try to get the same amenities, cleanliness, and convenience in a European hotel and you'd be paying hundreds of Euros.
