Camping in Rome, Florence, and Venice
Camp Michaelangelo in Florence
Checked out the facilities and site. While the facilities were not exceptional they were reasonable and of course the campsite is extremely close to downtown Florence. We didn't stay in Camp Michaelangelo for two reasons: they didn't take credit cards and it looked like a 'party campsite' with lots of young backpackers bunking up together.

Tiber Camp in Rome
Tiber Camp is a jewel of a campsite: The air is filled with the smells of flowers and the sounds of birds and of the loudest frogs you can imagine. Small fish can be seen in the creek behind our tent and the Tiber River is just on the other side of our tent.
Camp Tiber has lots of amenities, friendly reception, spotless washrooms, and well manicured lawns/site areas. While it is not located in the middle of town it does have a shuttle servicea central bus stop affords quick entry (15 minutes) into Roma. Check out there website here.
Camp Fusina in Venice
We stayed at Camp Fusina located at 79-30030, Marghera ,Venice. While the campsite was adequate we felt that is was not kept up as well as it should be and there was lots of noise from parties every night (a real turn-off for us).
